Our Audience With Her Majesty The Queen

On 23rd March 2022, Halcyon Days formed a presentation for Her Majesty The Queen, bringing elements of the factory to Windsor Castle. 

The Queen viewed the many intricate processes that our artisans use to form our handcrafted Halcyon Days enamelware and English fine bone china in a celebration of both our business’ 70th Anniversary and the Platinum Jubilee. 

A concise selection of archive enamel boxes from past to present were on display, reflecting the way in which the business has evolved, including the variety of product offering to our customers. 

The team talked through the history, archive and current collections as well as the processes of the enamelling and fine bone china whilst Master Artisans, Susan Shakespeare and Susan Jones demonstrated their expertise.

Pamela Harper, Chairman & CEO, and Zenouska Mowatt, Head of Marketing, watch on as Her Majesty inspects a lineup of enamel boxes.

Susan Shakespeare demonstrates the enamel decoration process. She explained:

"I felt highly honoured to be invited to meet Her Majesty The Queen and to represent Halcyon Days; a truly memorable day"

Susan Jones hand gilds our Castle of Mey teacup. She commented:

"The experience was truly, truly wonderful and not one that many have had, I'm still a bit in shock. We were so nervous, but Her Majesty's nature made us feel so relaxed"
